Optimal Web site reorganization considering information overload and search depth

چکیده

Adaptive Web sites have been extensively studied as the Internet and Web sites continuously grow. Based on Web usage mining, most of these studies focus on providing assistance to users instead of optimizing the Web site itself. This study proposes 0–1 programming models for reorganizing Web sites based on the cohesion between Web pages obtained by Web usage mining. Additionally, the proposed models reduce the information overload and search depth for users surfing in the Web site. Additionally, a heuristic approach was proposed to reduce the required computation time. The proposed models were verified and extensively tested with numerical examples. 2005 Elsevier B.V. Algorithm Design for Robust Web Personalization Using Neural Network

In the recent few spans the World Wide Web has become the leading and most general way of communication and information sharing. World Wide Web is a huge source of web pages and links. The size of information available on the internet is increasing exponentially, as around one million pages are added every day. So there is a problem of information overload. The dynamic and heterogeneous nature ...

Title-Block Based Web Page Reorganization

For cell phone users and blind people using non-visual browsers, browsing Web by common browsers is quite inefficient due to the problem of information overload. This paper presents the TB-WPRO (Title-Block based Web Page Re-Organization) method, which hierarchically segments web pages into blocks using visual and layout information reflecting the web designers’ intent. TB-WPRO segments the web...

Nowadays, analyzing user behavior on search engines is highly regarded. Lots of options in retrieved results in the search engines, makes users to choose. Once the selection is extremely complex, people will think the simplest decision rule, they decided that not to decide and select. Psychologists know this situation the consequence of "choice overload". Bons (2008) believes that choice overlo...

A Technique for Improving Web Mining using Enhanced Genetic Algorithm

World Wide Web is growing at a very fast pace and makes a lot of information available to the public. Search engines used conventional methods to retrieve information on the Web; however, the search results of these engines are still able to be refined and their accuracy is not high enough. One of the methods for web mining is evolutionary algorithms which search according to the user interests...

Handling Overload Conditions In High Performance Trustworthy Information Retrieval Systems

Web search engines retrieve a vast amount of information for a given search query. But the user needs only trustworthy and high-quality information from this vast retrieved data. The response time of the search engine must be a minimum value in order to satisfy the user. An optimum level of response time should be maintained even when the system is overloaded. This paper proposes an optimal Loa...
